Fired teller sentenced for theft

NASSAU- An Eleuthera woman was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing from the customers at the bank where she worked.

Angel Hudson, 25, was a teller supervisor at Commonwealth Bank in Spanish Wells.

Hudson admitted to making unauthorized withdrawals totaling $37,850 over an eight-month period. She deposited the stolen money into her account or to creditors’.

Hudson, who came to court in Tory Burch slippers, told police that she couldn’t meet her bills on a teller’s salary.

She has to repay the stolen money before she completes her six-month sentence. Otherwise, she will spend an additional 18 months behind bars.

Hudson pleaded guilty to stealing by reason of employment, forgery and falsification of accounts at an arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt last week.
