NASSAU- An American lawyer who bit, kicked and broke policewoman’s finger during a struggle has been ordered to pay $1,500 in compensation.
Security officers at the Aura Nightclub called police after Rachael Reese behaved in a disorderly manner following a dispute with a bar maid at the club on New Year’s Day.
Reese, a partner in the Tampa, Florida based law firm of Obrien Hatfield Reese, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly behaviour, obscene language, assault, and causing harm at her arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on January 3.
Prosecutors said Reese used expletives and bit and kicked WPC 4193 Johnson, the responding officer, several times in the face.
Johnson, who was in court, did not have any visible injuries to the face. However, her hand was bandaged.
Attorney Bjorn Ferguson also noted that Reese was taken to the hospital as a result of the injuries she sustained at the hands of the police officer. Reese had visible bruises on her back and legs and had a bandaged arm.
Ferguson said that Reese was drunk at the time of incident. He said the officers cursed at Reese and hit her first and she responded in kind.
Mckinney ordered Reese to pay $1,500 in compensation and placed her on probation for six months.
