Pair charged in robbery of Exuma tourist

NASSAU- Police have arrested two men who they say are responsible for the armed robbery of a tourist in Exuma last week.

Robert Symonette, 21, and Jamal Bullard, 18, were arrested on armed robbery and firearm charges.

The robbery happened on November 29 at Gregory Town, Exuma.

The tourist, Nathan Johnson, was walking from the Fish Fry to his hotel when he was accosted by two men, who robbed him at gunpoint.

The robbers took Johnson’s wallet, valued at $300 and his slippers, worth $80.

Police allegedly found the men in possession of a 9mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition on December 1.

They were not required to enter pleas to the armed robbery and gun charge when they appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on Monday, December 6.

They were denied bail and will return to court on February 1.
