Ex-cop to stand trial for fatally shooting unarmed man

NASSAU- The former police officer charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of an unarmed man has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.

Jason Anderson, 52, will be arraigned for the death of Jarvis Burrows on April 23.

Burrows died on October 28, 2020 after Anderson, who was off-duty, shot him in the back at Hart’s Exuma.

The aftermath of Burrows’ shooting was captured on video by a bystander.

In the video, Anderson searched the wounded man and removed a small quantity of marijuana as he bled out on the ground.

When bystanders begged him to take Burrows to the clinic, he replied, “What car I guh put him in?”

Burrows died at the airport waiting on an air ambulance.

Anderson, an officer of 30 years, was dismissed after the incident. He is free on $15,000 bail.
