Man flashes woman during raunchy chat

0

NASSAU- A white American tourist spent a night in a cell after he flashed a married woman outside her home in the upscale Old Fort Bay community.

The 40-year-old, whose surname is ironically Gross, committed the disgusting act while flirting with a woman he’d just met on June 29.

He and the woman chatted as he waited on the dock to go jet skiing with friends.

The man told police that the woman asked to see his penis after a raunchy conversation in which she claimed to be sexually deprived.

Mr Gross obliged the sexually frustrated woman, who then snapped a photo of his penis without his consent.

The woman later made a complaint to police.

Mr Gross pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and faced a maximum fine of $150.

However, his lawyer Ryszard Humes asked the court not to convict.

He said that Mr Gross believed the woman wanted to see his penis—but later realized he had misinterpreted their conversation.

Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt gave Mr Gross an absolute discharge.

Man acquitted of child sex abuse

NASSAU- A man accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s three-year-old son has been acquitted.

By a vote of 8 -1, the jury found Colyn Algreen not guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor of the same sex.

Prosecutors alleged that Algreen, 29, molested the toddler while he was in his care on November 30, 2019.

The mother testified that she allowed her son to accompany Algreen to a nearby food truck on the day in question. She stayed home because she wasn’t feeling well.

The woman accused Algreen of molesting her child after she noticed injuries to his anus when he returned home. The woman said she found a bloodstain in her son’s underwear as well as traces of feces.

Algreen told her that the boy had fallen on a seatbelt in his car when he suddenly pressed brakes.

Algreen did not testify at his trial before Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson and he called no witnesses.

His lawyer, Miranda Adderley, told the jury that there was insufficient evidence to convict as there was no physical evidence to prove Algreen molested the child.

She said he voluntarily provided DNA samples to police, which showed he had nothing to hide.

Eucal Bonaby prosecuted.

NASSAU- A man cleared of murdering a little boy’s father is now accused of killing the child’s mother.

Prosecutors say Cleophus Smith, 29, gunned down Shavonya Adderley on June 25, soon after his release from prison.

Smith was accused of fatally shooting Keion Butler, the father of Adderley’s son, and the attempted murders of Marvin Tilme and Chavez McPhee in August 2019.

But prosecutors dropped that case against him in April after a witness recanted, resulting in his release from prison.

Smith appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney today charged with the murder of Adderley and the attempted murder of her uncle Avery Francis.

He was not required to enter pleas to the charges and remanded to prison. His next court date is August 17.

The pair was in front of a home on First Street, Coconut when gunmen emerged from a small car and opened fire, hitting them both.

They were at the home to offer condolences after another relative, Gladstone Francis Jr., and his daughter were gunned down at the same address in similar circumstances on June 24. Francis Jr died and his daughter has been released from hospital.

That incident remains under investigation.

NASSAU- After an hour of deliberation, a jury acquitted Able Seaman Jevon Seymour of murder and attempted murder.

Prosecutors alleged that the marine fatally shot his superior Petty Officer Percival Perpall on the grounds of Government House on April 28, 2019.

The prosecution’s case centered around the identification of Seymour as the shooter by two other marines.

Marine Seamen Calvin Hanna and Ellis Rahming picked out Perpall from a 12-man photo lineup after he refused to participate in an identification parade, or a group ID.

Both men said that Seymour shot at them and missed.

They claimed that they knew Seymour prior to the incident.

However, Seymour and four other witnesses testified that he was somewhere else when the incident happened.

Stubbs was not required to enter a plea to the charges when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.

He was denied bail and returns to court on July 27.

It all began when officers on routine patrol around 8pm saw a man driving in a reckless man at the juncture of Blue Hill Road and Coconut Grove Avenue.

The officers ordered the man to stop, but he refused.

A chase followed and the driver eventually stopped at the intersection of Amos Ferguson Street and Balfour Avenue.

The pursuit continued on foot.

Man accused of killing ex-girlfriend gets bail

0

NASSAU- A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in 2020 has been granted bail.

Barry Swain Jr was charged with manslaughter in Angelita Pritchard’s death.

Pritchard, a mother-of-seven, was found strangled to death in her home in Crown Haven, Abaco on December 26, 2020.

Swain does not have a trial date, as his matter isn’t before the Supreme Court.

Prosecutors have missed four scheduled dates to serve Swain with a voluntary bill of indictment, which would commit him to stand trial.

Justice Gregory Hilton set Swain’s bail at $15,000 on Thursday.

The prosecution did not object to his release.

Christina Galanos represents Swain.
