Murder suspect dies in hospital

Nassau, BAHAMAS- The man who shot himself after killing his girlfriend on January 22 has died in hospital.

Fenron D Ferguson’s death comes two days after he fatally shot 21-year-old Heavenly Terveus at her family’s home on Miami Street.

Ferguson shot Terveus in the head as she nursed the couple’s one-month-old son before he turned the gun on himself.

According to police, Ferguson came to the home shortly before 6pm.

He went into Terveus’ bedroom and locked the door behind him. Relatives heard gunshots a short time later.

After breaking into the room, relatives found Terveus dead on the floor. Ferguson was also shot and police said his injuries were self-inflicted. The couple’s son was also taken to hospital.

The tragedy brought an end to the couple’s volatile relationship.

On April 4, 2021, Ferguson allegedly opened fire on two of Terveus’ relatives. They had gone to his apartment to get Terveus after the couple had a fight.

He was charged on April 8 with two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and remanded to prison because the magistrate lacked the jurisdiction to grant bail for the offense.

Terveus, a prosecution witness in the shooting case, accepted a marriage proposal from Ferguson after he was granted bail in the Supreme Court.

Prosecutors later upgraded the charges to attempted murder. The case was still pending at the time of the shooting.
