Man cleared of murder killed in home-invasion

Kevin Andrews and his girlfriend were killed during a home-invasion on January 2

NASSAU- A man acquitted of a home-invasion murder was killed Tuesday morning when gunmen burst into his home shooting him and his girlfriend multiple times.

Kevin Andrews and the woman were asleep at a home in Montell Heights when armed thugs riddled them with bullets before 3am on January 2. They died at the scene.

Police said they arrested two suspects for the double murder a short time later at a home in Montell Heights.

Both suspects are on bail for armed robbery.

According to police, Andrews had a prior altercation with one of the suspects.

Coincidentally, Andrews was acquitted of the October 28, 2014 murder of Robert Cartwright during an attempted armed robbery and burglary in Blair Estates.

A judge directed his acquittal in 2019 after finding there was insufficient evidence to support the charge.

The Court of Appeal upheld the judge’s decision in 2020.
