Man accused of barbershop murder granted bail

NASSAU – A man accused of a fatal shooting at a barbershop has been granted $30,000 bail.

Prosecutors allege that Javaughn Charlton, 23, murdered Michael Beckford on April 3.

According to police, Beckford, 23, was getting a haircut at a barbershop on Cowpen Road and Baillou Hill Road when a lone gunman fatally shot him.

Charlton was remanded to prison on April 19. He was granted bail on August 10.

As a condition of bail, Charlton has to wear an ankle bracelet and sign in at a police station.
