Cop charged in drunk driving fatality

Nassau, Bahamas- A policeman has been charged with vehicular manslaughter after allegedly driving drunk and causing a collision that killed his girlfriend.

Prosecutors say Inspector Dalton Knowles ran into the guardrails on Bahamas Gamaes Boulevard, causing the death of Temeka Duncombe, his front seat passenger.

Knowles was also injured in the accident and had to be hospitalized.

The accident happened on December 17, 2022.

Knowles was charged after it was determined that he had been driving while intoxicated.

Knowles was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

He was granted $8,000 bail and he returns to court on October 19 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.

In the interim, Officers Knowles has been interdicted from his duties until the matter is resolved.
