Two deny smuggling $80,000 ganja from Canada

NASSAU-A man and woman on Monday denied plotting to smuggling $80,000 worth of potent purple haze marijuana into The Bahamas.

Urica Seymour, 32, of Sea Breeze, and Craig Gibson, 36, of Kent Drive, were arrested on September 4 after a customs officer found 20 pounds of the drug inside packages that had been shipped from Canada.

Seymour allegedly went to collect the illicit cargo and police arrested her alleged accomplice a short time later.

The pair denied charges of drug possession with intent to supply, conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply, drug importation and conspiracy to import drugs at their arraignment.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes scheduled a November 24.

He remanded the suspects to prison.

However, a short time later Justice Gregory Hilton freed them on $9,000 bail each at an emergency bail hearing.
