NASSAU- Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested three policemen and two Colombians for alleged involvement in an international cocaine cartel.
A police statement said the arrests were a result of an investigation that began in Acklins on June 7.
In December 2021, police arrested an inspector after he was accused of helping smugglers landed a $25 million cocaine shipment on Crooked Island.
The smugglers, who implicated the officer, pleaded guilty and they were jailed for five years.
However, the officer was released without charge.
