36 Haitians arrested after landing in Eleuthera

Police arrested 36 Haitian migrants  on Monday after their vessel made landfall in Eleuthera.

Officers received reports that a Haitian vessel was in the area of Windermere Island shortly before 2pm on January 3, police said.

When the officers arrived by boat, they saw the grounded Haitian vessel and people running towards the shore.

The officers did not find anyone when they searched the vessel.

However, with the help of residents they arrested 25 men, 10 women and a girl for illegal landing after searching the shore.
