GRAND BAHAMA – Police arrested a suspect in an attempted murder when he showed up at the hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe that the suspect was injured by police in a shooting Wednesday night.
It started around 10pm when police officers at a business in Marsh Harbour, Abaco saw a gunman chasing another man.
The victim fell to the ground and the gunman stood over him and shot him multiple times.
The officers sprang into action and identified themselves as police officers.
The gunman pointed his firearm at the officers and fled.
One of the officers fired at the assailant, who managed to escape.
The gunshot victim was taken to the Marsh Harbour Clinic. He was airlifted to New Providence in serious condition.
Meanwhile, the suspect in his shooting showed up at the Rand Memorial Hospital around 6am.
He was treated for a gunshot wound that he claimed he sustained while at Eight Mile Rock.
However, investigators later learned that he was the suspect in the shooting in Abaco.
Police arrested him in relation to that matter after he was released from hospital.
