Worker injured after tire explodes

Grand Bahama- A man suffered serious injuries when a dump truck tire exploded as he inflated it.

Cameron Pennington broke his right leg and fractured his skull as a result of the freak accident, according to his family.

The incident took place at an unidentified work site in Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock around 2pm on Friday, September 24.

Raymond Pennington described the extent of his brother’s injuries in a Facebook appeal for financial assistance.

According to the brother, Cameron needs to see a neurosurgeon for bruising on the brain.

He said, “We are asking for help, or donations, to airlift my little brother. He’s in very critical condition; he’s on a ventilator, and he needs help.”

Pennington said medical treatment at Doctors’ Hospital in New Providence will cost at least $75,000. Princess Margaret Hospital, the public hospital, is not and option because no there are no beds available, the brother explained.
