Man on bail for 2 murders allegedly caught with 2 guns

NASSAU- A man on bail for two murders has been granted bail again—this time for allegedly possessing two firearms.

Police allegedly caught Ahmad Clarke with two loaded 9mm pistols earlier this month.

At the time of his arrest on the gun charge, Clarke, of Acklins Street, was on bail awaiting trial for shooting murders that occurred years apart.

In November 2020, Clarke was charged with the murder of Renaldo “Bones” Nixon and the attempted murder of Antonisha Adderley.

At the time of that incident, Clarke was wearing an ankle bracelet as a condition of his bail for the 2018 murder of Christian Moree and the attempted murders of Romeo Moss and Tarsman Clarke.

Clarke pleaded not guilty to the gun and ammunition charges and was freed on $7,500 bail ahead of his trial.

Woman who lured ex to bat beating is fined

NASSAU- A wicked woman who lured her ex-boyfriend to her home where he was savagely beaten with a baseball bat has escaped jail time.

Joycelyn Chriswell on January 6 invited her former love-interest to her home in Eastwood Estates.

The boyfriend was lying in Chriswell’s bed when her cousin, David Wallace, emerged with a baseball bat.

Chriswell held her ex down as Wallace battered him with the bat.

Then, she grabbed another baseball bat and joined in the attack.

The ex-boyfriend managed to get away, but both of his legs were broken as a result of the attack.

Chriswell and Wallace pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and causing harm when they appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on April 26 for trial.

Magistrate McKinney fined each convict $1,000 or nine months’ imprisonment. What’s more, they each ordered to pay the victim $1,500 in compensation to avoid spending a month in custody.

Case dropped against husband accused of killing wife

NASSAU – Prosecutors on Wednesday dropped criminal charges against a policeman who was about to go on trial for the murder of his wife and the attempted murder of their son.

Jarrette Stubbs was accused of stabbing his wife, Alfreda, and their 13-year-old son during a domestic dispute at their home in Sir Lynden Pindling Estates on November 13, 2013.

Mrs Stubbs, a 39-year-old pharmacist, died in hospital two days after the incident.

Stubbs, who up to that point had been a policeman, was charged with murder and attempted murder on November 21, 2013 and remanded to prison.

He was granted bail after spending two years in custody awaiting trial.

Proceedings against Stubbs came to an end when prosecutors presented a nolle prosequi to Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns.

A nolle leaves the door open to re-instating the charges.

However, this is unlikely as Stubbs’ son, the key witness in the case, is reportedly unwilling to testify.

Woman held in fatal shooting

NASSAU- A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Pinewood Gardens on April 17.

Police responded to a shooting at Pinewood Drive around 3pm and they met a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

The victim was taken to hospital where she later died.

According to police, the victim and another woman were outside a home when a woman brandishing a gun opened fire and wounded one of them.

Woman accused of inciting shooting denied bail

NASSAU – A woman who allegedly encouraged her boyfriend to shoot another woman outside a bar has been charged with abetment to attempted murder.

Nashante Hall, 25, of Foxdale, faced the charge when she made her first court appearance before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on April 13.

The charge stems from a shooting outside Da Blitz Bar on Village Road.

Prosecutors allege that Hall got into a fight with Javon Saunders while in the club.
Club security parted them.

After the altercation, Hall allegedly told Saunders that she knew people “with bodies under their belt and she could just make a call.”

Prosecutors say Hall told her boyfriend about the incident and he shot Saunders in after calling her over to his car.

The alleged shooter remains at large.
Hall was not required to plead to the charge and was denied bail.

However, she can seek bail in the Supreme Court.

Hall is next due to appear before Magistrate McKinney on July 25.

Man jailed for sex assault on woman in cell

NASSAU- A predator who indecently assaulted a woman after careless cops placed him in her cell has been jailed for 2 ½ years.

Ryan Bodie’s sentence was backdated to October 25, 2021,the date of his remand.

His sentencing had been delayed for a psychiatric evaluation.

Bodie’s victim was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant in Nassau Village on October 21.

She was taken to the East Street South Police Station and detained.

Later that night, officers arrested Bodie for threatening his father and damaging his father’s truck.

Bodie, 32, was also taken to the East Street South Police Station and placed on the same cell as Bodie.

Bodie, who was more attentive than the officers on the guard, immediately recognized that he was sharing a cell with a woman.

He started masturbating and went to sleep.

Then, Bodie woke up and pleasured himself while sitting on the cement bench where the woman was lying down.

The woman ran to the cell door and screamed for officers—but no one came.

As the woman screamed for help, Bodie undressed and threatened to rape the woman and give her AIDS.

Luckily for her, the officers came and prevented Bodie from carrying out his threat.

Bodie, who is mentally ill, said he knew that his actions were wrong.


In sentencing, Magistrate Kendra Kelly said the police were at fault for placing Bodie in the same cell as the woman.

However, she said his actions were inexcusable.

Bodie faced a maximum of three years’ imprisonment. He did not get the maximum due to his guilty plea.

The sexual assault victim has sued the police force and is reportedly seeking $600,000 in damages.

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe said the officer had admitted he was at fault for the incident.

However, it is not known how the officer who placed Bodie in the cell was punished.

Brothers on bail killed weeks apart

NASSAU- Two brothers have been killed in targeted attacks just weeks apart.

Michael Beckford, 23, was shot multiple times around 4pm on April 3 while getting a haircut.

A lone gunman walked into a barber shop on Baillou Hill Road and shot him multiple times before calmly leaving the scene.

Beckford stumbled out of the shop before he collapsed and died.

Tragically, on March 23, Beckford’s half-brother Edison McQueen was killed while leaving an airBnB off Carmichael Road.

Four gunmen armed with assault rifles ambushed McQueen, otherwise known as “John Wick”, as he walked to his car.

Both brothers had pending cases and were wearing ankle bracelets as a condition of their bail.

Beckford appeared before Justice Renae McKay on March 28 in an attempt to have his tracking device removed, according to an article in The Nassau Guardian.

Beckford said he was in afraid for his life because of his brother’s recent murder, the article said.

The bail variation hearing was supposed to continue this week.

Police are investigating to determine if the murders are connected.

Family of raped teen tourist sues hotel for $10m

NASSAU- An American family has blamed negligent security at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau for the rape of their 15-year-old daughter.

Businessman Henry Richard Nixon, 59, better known as Ricky Nixon, is on $9,500 bail pending trial.

He’s accused of raping the girl who was vacationing with her family at the hotel on April 4, 2021.

The girl’s father is suing the resort for $10 million for allegedly failing to protect his daughter, for lack of security and for allowing Nixon onto the property. The suit was filed in Florida.

Nixon, the owner of IMC Awnings and Shutters, is accused of luring the teenager to a cabana on the property and raping her.

The girl wandered off on the property and her family tracked her location through her phone.

The girl’s father allegedly caught Nixon sexually assaulting his daughter—and pulled him off of her her.

Man who got teen girl pregnant gets 4 years

NASSAU- A pervert who got a 14-year-old he met on Facebook pregnant has been jailed.

Justin Pratt, 40, was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment when he pleaded guilty to five counts of statutory rape before Justice Renae McKay.

Pursuant to a plea deal, Pratt will spend three years on probation after he completes his prison term.

Pratt risks returning to prison for two years if he commits any crime during the probationary period.

Pratt met the high school student on social media in 2019. After talking online, the pair eventually met up for sex on multiple occasions.

Police caught Pratt red handed on January 24, 2020 after the child skipped school for one of their illegal hookups.

A concerned citizen called police when they saw Pratt taking the girl, who was still wearing her school uniform, into his apartment on Shamrock Close around 9am.

When the officers responded, they reportedly heard “sexual noises” coming from the residence.

After entering the home, the officers arrested Pratt on suspicion of statutory rape

The child told police that their illicit relationship began in June 2019.

Police informed the teen’s mother about her whereabouts and took her to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed she was pregnant.
It’s not known if she had the baby.
