Double murder suspect on bail accused of another shooting

A man charged with a double murder in June is back in custody after he was accused of a shooting.

Kyas Duncombe, 22, surrendered to police in Bimini on September 19 shortly after a shooting at Bimini Bay.

Police allege that Duncombe fired into a car endangering the lives of Kareem Chea, Carlos Saunders and Kimani Dottin.

He denied charges of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at his arraignment before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes and was refused bail.

On June 11, the former fugitive was denied bail after he was charged with the 2017 murders of Joseph Bain and Stephon Lafrance.

Prosecutors say that Duncombe and two others shot the men outside Game Time Bar in Freeport on February 1, 2017.

Man shot after answering door

NASSAU-A man was shot after answering a knock at the door.

The shooting happened just before 10 pm on Wednesday at Finlayson Street.

According to ASP Audley Peters, the gunman forced his way inside after the man opened the door.

The gunman fled after shooting the man in a struggle, Peters said.

The victim was taken to hospital by private car.

His condition is unknown.

New trial date for captain accused firing at officers

NASSAU-An American boat captain accused of opening fire on enforcement officers in Green Turtle Cay, Abaco earlier this year didn’t return for his trial yesterday.

John Tellam’s lawyer Jomo Campbell said the Florida resident couldn’t travel due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

As a result, Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes set a new trial date of January 25.  Current coronavirus protocols would have required an adjournment since new criminal trials are suspended.

A Supreme Court judge freed Tellam, 60, was  on $10,000 cash bail within hours of his arraignment before the magistrate.

Tellam is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, three counts of possession of ammunition with intent to supply and two counts of ammunition possession.

Prosecutors say Tellam opened fire on Corporal 2999 Glen Dean and Marine Seaman Keiton Bowleg after a dispute over customs duty at the dock on May 22.

They returned fire and arrested Tellam.

When they searched his vessel, officers allegedly found 10 live rounds for a 410 shotgun, 20 rounds for a .223 weapon, and 138 shells for a 12 gauge shotgun.

Father accused of raping daughter for four years

NASSAU-A father who allegedly betrayed his daughter’s trust by sexually molesting her has been remanded to prison.

The 57-year-old resident of New Providence appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain on five counts of incest.

Prosecutors allege that the man began abusing his daughter in June 2016 when she was 10 years old.

The sexual abuse allegedly continued up to September 17, 2020.

The alleged child molester’s name has been withheld to protect his daughter’s privacy.

He returns to court on November 14. At that time, prosecutors plan to fast-track his case to the Supreme Court with a voluntary bill of indictment.

Accused robbers denied bail

Two men accused of robbing Omni Financial on Carmichael Road of over $7,000 have been denied bail.

Prosecutors say Tahj Sealey, 23, and Alvin Etienne, 21, held up Sierra Thurston at gunpoint on September 8 and robbed her of $7,237.18.

Both men faced charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with the incident.

Teen murder suspect says cops beat him

NASSAU-A murder suspect has proof of injuries sustained while in police custody.

Tyshawn Moxey, 19, had a doctor document the state of his before he surrendered to police for questioning about the September 13 murder of Danton Woods.

His lawyer Jomo Campbell said the physical showed that Moxey was  “free from bruises, scratches and injuries.”

However, Campbell alleged that police dislocated Moxey’s right, pinky finger, bruised his face and suffocated him in an attempt to make him confess.

Moxey didn’t have to enter a plea to the charge that he fatally shot Woods, a 44-year-old expectant father, in front of his home on Hawthorne Road at his first court appearance.

Moxey has been denied bail and returns to court on December 4 for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes directed prison authorities to give Moxey medical care.

Officer injured as drug smugglers ram police boat

NASSAU-Desperate drug smugglers rammed a police boat during a high speed chase in Exuma this morning.

Still, the Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended the four smugglers and seized 2,274 pounds of marijuana valued at $3.4 million.

The captain of the go-fast smuggling boat stopped his vessel after police shot a member of his crew.

The shooting was in response to the collision that injured a DEU officer. The officers sustained injuries to the neck and legs after he was thrown from the boat.

Both injured men are recovering in hospital.

The spectacular chase  involving the police boat and an OPBAT helicopter started in Ragged Island and ended in Exuma.

The 42-year-old captain of Yamacraw Beach was recently released from prison for drug smuggling.

Gang leader’s nephew hurt in shooting

NASSAU-The nephew of Stephen “Die” Stubbs, the alleged leader of the notorious street gang One Order, was wounded in a shooting Sunday night.

Antonio Stubbs remains in hospital as police search for the shooter.

According to police, Stubbs was walking through a track road near Colleton Road in Ridgeland Park around 9pm when he heard gunshots.

Stubbs collapsed to the ground after being shot multiple times. He was taken to hospital by private car.

Foul play suspected as two women found dead

Police suspect foul play after two women were found dead in separate incidents over the weekend.

Officers went to the beach in Lower Bogue, Eleuthera around noon on Saturday after a partially clad woman was found unresponsive on the shoreline.

Police on patrol on Dowdeswell Street found the second body around 6am Sunday morning.

After receiving information, the officers searched an abandoned building, where they found the woman’s partially decomposed body in a generator room.

Investigations continue into both incidents.

Shop manager killed in robbery attempt

NASSAU- A shop manager died after he was shot in the head during a struggle with a robber Thursday night.

Police said that a lone gunman entered Grace of God Convenience Store on Miami Street around 7pm and demanded cash.

The armed robber shot the manager in the head during the struggle that followed. It’s unclear if the gunman got any money.

The gunshot victim died at hospital a short time later.
