Child shot in drive-by

NASSAU- A boy is in serious condition in hospital after he was injured in a drive-by shooting this morning.

The incident happened around 10am at Jack Fish Drive in Golden Gates.

Police said the boy was with his mother at a friend’s home when gunmen opened fire from a small car, injuring the child.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Crime Stoppers at 328-8477.

Arson case sent to Supreme Court

NASSAU- A cook accused of setting a fire that destroyed one home and damaged three others will be arraigned in the Supreme Court on December 18.

Prosecutors on Friday fast-tracked the arson case of Angelique Williams to the Supreme Court with the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Williams is accused of deliberately starting a fire that destroyed Bonnie Solomon’s wooden home on Laird Street on September 2.

The fire spread and damaged the neighboring homes of Jillian Newbold, Marcus Newbold, and Janet Serrette. In total, the fire caused $176,418 in damage.

Williams is free on bail.

1 in custody after stabbing at Abaco bar

ABACO- Police have arrested a suspect in a stabbing in Murphy Town, Abaco that sent a man to hospital.

Officers were called to the Marsh Harbour Clinic around 9pm Friday after the victim showed up with stab wounds to the back.

The man, whose injuries are described as serious, was airlifted to New Providence for further medical care.

Police investigations revealed that the man was injured several hours before during an altercation with another man at a bar and restaurant in Murphy Town.

Man accused of rape of teen at sleepover

NASSAU- A 27-year-old man who allegedly raped a child during a sleepover has been remanded to prison.

Jean Pierre, also known as Jean Joseph, allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl at a hotel on December 5.

Pierre, of Fifth Street, The Grove, was not required to enter a plea to a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse when he appeared before the chief magistrate.

Pierre was denied bail and returns to court on April 21.

Funeral director accused of statutory rape

Funeral director Godfrey Gray is back in legal trouble after being accused of the statutory rape of a minor.

Prosecutors say that Godfrey Gray, 39, of Fritz Lane, molested the girl from October 1, 2020 to December 5. The child, who was 13 when the unlawful relationship allegedly began, is now 14. The age of consent is 16.

Gray was not required to enter pleas to the charges of unlawful sexual intercourse when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt Thursday.

He was denied bail and returns to court on April 21.

Earlier this year, Gray pleaded guilty to intentional libel and misuse of telecommunications. In that case, Gray sent WhatsApp messages to a woman’s husband and relatives claiming he had given her AIDS.

The woman and Gray had a brief affair. He began the campaign of harassment after she refused to leave her husband for him, the court heard.

Although Gray claimed to have AIDS, his former mistress tested negative for HIV when she made the complaint.

Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes granted Gray a conditional discharge in that case. Gray also has a pending case for allegedly impersonating a policeman.

Man accused of killing grandmother formally charged

NASSAU- A 29-year-old man accused of killing his grandmother and trying to kill his mother inside their home made his initial court appearance today.

Rico Pratt is accused of fatally stabbing 69-year-old Gelena Pratt and the attempted murder of his 51-year-old mother, Aretha Pratt on December 4 at Shabbach Close.

Pratt allegedly slit his mother’s throat during the brutal attack and she remains in critical condition in hospital. His grandmother was found in a pool of blood inside the home with multiple stab wounds.

Pratt was not required to enter pleas to the charges of murder and attempted murder when he made his initial court appearance before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt. He didn’t have a lawyer.

Pratt makes his next court appearance on April 21, 2021.

Suspect shot by police is charged

NASSAU- A man shot by police during a pursuit has been charged

Prosecutors allege that Jordan Stubbs, 21, opened fire on police officers as he tried to evade officers in a pursuit that began at Gladstone and Carmichael Roads and ended on Soldier Road.

According to police, the occupants of two cars were firing at each other at the juncture of Gladstone and Carmichael Roads around 9pm on December 3.

The occupant of a Honda Fit opened fire on officers from the COVID-19 Enforcement Unit, which sparked a chase.

The officers called for backup and other units joined the pursuit. The suspect allegedly fired at the officers in a bid to evade capture. The case ended when the driver crashed his Honda Fit.

Prosecutors say Stubbs emerged from the damaged car and pointed his gun at officers, who shot him.

Stubbs, of Fox Hill, faced four counts of possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life when he appeared in court. He was also accused of possession of a .40 Austria Glock and six rounds of ammunition for the weapon.

Stubbs wasn’t required to enter a plea to the charges and has been denied bail.

He returns to court on March 24, 2021.

3 held in Abaco bump-and-rob

MARSH HARBOUR, ABACO – Police have charged three men with a bump-and-rob incident in Abaco.

The charge comes after Adlin Demosthene 2007 Honda Accord was hit from behind around 9:40pm on December 3 on Murphy Town Drive.

When he got out of the vehicle to check the damage, Demosthene was robbed at gunpoint.

One of the culprits drove off in Demosthene’s car that had $1,400 in the glove compartment. Police recovered the stolen car, minus the money a short time later.

Prosecutors say Murphy Town residents Andre “Moe” Kikivarakis, 22; Raheem McBride, 28, and Clarence “CJ” North, are behind the incident.

They were not required to enter a plea to the armed robbery charge when they appeared before Magistrate Ancella Evans on Wednesday.

Prosecutors plan to fast-track the case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment on February 25, 2021.

The suspects have been remanded to prison.

Abaco man denies firearm charge

MARSH HARBOUR, ABACO- An Abaco man faces firearms charges after police allegedly found him with a loaded 9mm pistol.

Police arrested Sherman Kemp at the dock in Hope Town, Abaco on December 5.

According to police, officers were on patrol around 8pm when they saw a group of men getting off a boat. The officers stopped and searched the men because they were behaving suspiciously.

The officers arrested Kemp after they allegedly found a silver and black 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition in the waist of his pants.

Kemp denied charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition at his arraignment before Magistrate Ancella Evans on Monday.

Magistrate Evans adjourned the matter to March 17, 2021 for trial.

Kemp will remain in custody until his trial begins, unless a Supreme Court judge grants him bail.

Woman accused of trying to run over her husband

NASSAU-A woman is facing charges after her husband says she tried to run him over with her car.

Prosecutors say Karen Davis attempted to knock down her estranged husband, Dion, during a domestic dispute.

Mr Davis allegedly jumped out of the vehicle’s path, but he was hit on the hand with the car’s sideview mirror.

Mrs Davis denied charges of assault with a dangerous instrument and causing harm at her arraignment.

She returns to court for trial on February 18, 2021.
