NASSAU -A policeman shot and critically injured a man who they say reached for his gun.
The incident happened around 10 am Saturday, December 18.
According to police, they received reports that an armed man was at an apartment complex on Bowe Avenue in Montell Heights.
The officers identified the suspect when they arrived at the scene. He was reportedly standing in the front room of an apartment unit with a gun in his waist.
Police allege that the suspect reached for the gun as an officer approached.
The officer became in fear of his life and shot the suspect.
The suspect is in critical condition at the hospital. Police say they recovered a pistol.
