NASSAU – Police have filed charges against a man in connection with a dog mauling attack last month.
The dogs’ owner, Jymal Gibson, is charged with negligently causing grievous harm after his four pit bulls attacked his neighbour on January 28.
Alicia Barton said she was about to go into her Pastel Gardens home when the dogs attacked her, causing injuries to her head, arms and legs.
The dogs have been impounded. And the 51-year-old cancer survivor has been released from hospital and is recovering from the incident.
Meanwhile, Gibson, 27, denied the prosecution’s claim that he is responsible for the incident by failing to properly secure his dogs.
Magistrate Shaka Serville freed Gibson on $2,500 bail and set a June 21 trial date.
If convicted, Gibson faces a maximum of nine months in prison.
