NASSAU- A man locked up for the last seven months on an indecent assault charge has been granted bail.
Shervin Colebrook, 23, of Heritage Lane, is accused of kissing a seven-year-old boy on the lips last July.
Colebrook was brought down from prison because he said he wanted to plead guilty.
Since Colebrook faced trial in the Supreme Court, prosecutors reduced the charge which permitted him to enter a plea before the magistrate.
However, the Court did not accept Colebrook’s plea because he did not agree with the prosecutor’s summary.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes set Colebrook’s bail at $3,000 and adjourned the matter for trial on July 5.
He faces a maximum of three years in prison if convicted.
As a condition of bail, Colebrook must not come within 50 feet of the alleged victim.
He is also required to sign in at the Quakoo Street Police Station on Mondays and Fridays before 6pm.
