NASSAU- A senior revenue manager at the Department of Inland Revenue has been remanded to prison on an extortion charge.
Hiram Cox, 51, of East Lake Drive, Coral Harbour, is accused of demanding $10,000 payment from Preston Rolle on August 25.
Cox, who is represented by Alex Morley, denied the allegation at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt today.
Cox returns to court for a status hearing on February 23, 2021.
Cox will have to seek bail before a judge in the Supreme Court.
In 2013, Cox, a former stockbroker at CFAL, devised a scheme that allowed managers at Commonwealth Bank to sell shares they had acquired through an employee stock option plan on the market.
The managers bought the shares at the option price of $6 and then resold them to third parties at the market price, which was between $8 and $10.50 per share.
The Court of Appeal overturned the conviction in 2015.
