NASSAU- Police maintained a heavy police presence in the Coconut Grove and Ridgeland Park communities last night following the murder of Vernal Stubbs, better known as “Boss.”
Stubbs, who is in his early 60s, was shot in an ambush outside his home on Eighth Street in Coconut Grove shortly after 5pm on Friday, March 11.
According to police, Stubbs and his friend had just pulled up to the residence in a white Dodge Durango when two men shot them multiple times about the body.
Stubbs died on the scene and his friend was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Police suspect that the incident stems from an ongoing tit-for-tat feud between residents of Coconut Grove and Ridgeland Park.
Stubbs’ nephew, Sario Stuart, was killed as a result of the same dispute last year.
