Flood damage closes Supreme Court building

NASSAU- Contractors are working to repair flood damage caused by a burst pipe in the  roof the historic Supreme Court building at Bank Lane.

The flooding took place over the Christmas holiday. Staff discovered the damage when the building reopened on December 29, 2022.

The water damaged judges’ chambers and four courtrooms. The repairs are expected to be completed by February.

As a result, the January 11 ceremony to mark the opening of the Legal Year, won’t be held at the court building.
