Ex inmate in critical condition after shooting

NASSAU – Police are investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition in hospital.

Rolin “Popo” Alexis was shot multiple times while at Delaporte on Sunday, July 3.

Alexis was released from prison in April after he was acquitted of armed robbery on appeal. The Court didn’t order a retrial.

In 2020, he was also acquitted of the 2012 murder of Dessaline Nicholas following a second trial.

The Court of Appeal in 2019 quashed his murder conviction and overturned his 45-year sentence after ruling that the jury heard inadmissible evidence at his first trial.
