Nassau, Bahamas – A disgraced pastor and principal has been jailed for kissing a 13-year-old student in 2020.
Thomas Nottage Sr, the pastor at Grace Evangelical Ministries and the principal at its companion school, Grace Christian School of Excellence, was sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment.
Nottage, 54, has to pay a $1,000 fine and $500 in compensation to his victim, to avoid spending an additional six months in prison.
Nottage was charged with indecent assault after he called the girl into his office as she waited for her ride and kissed her against her will.
He admitted to hugging the child and telling her that he loved her. However, Nottage denied that he kissed her.
Nottage suggested that the student maliciously accused him because she had been disciplined for disruptive behavior in class.
Nottage faced a maximum sentence of three years in prison.
He didn’t receive the most severe sentence because he had no prior convictions and his crime was not considered the worst form of indecent assault.
