Cops shot pit bulls during gun arrest

NASSAU- Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit seized an illegal gun after shooting two dogs on a Fox Hill property last week.

The officers arrested Trevino Thompson, 30, of Cockburn Street, on March 24 after he allegedly ran from the house and tossed a 9mm pistol containing 13 rounds of ammunition over a fence.

Thompson’s relatives have alleged that police shot the dogs without justification.

Thompson pleaded not guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

He was granted $8,000 bail and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.

The fisherman has a record for drugs. He spent 18 months in prison in connection to a 2016 drug seizure at Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Thompson was headed to Florida when police found 2.6 pounds of cocaine hidden in his suitcase.
