Cop charged in stabbing of two men at Polo Club

NASSAU-A recently enlisted police officer allegedly took the law into his own hands by stabbing two men.

Prosecutors say Constable Vernon Varence, 23, stabbed Nolin Flowers and Kashif Satchell multiple times at the Polo Club on Andros Avenue.

The incident happened on September 5.

Police learned of the incident when Flowers and Satchell showed up at the emergency room.

Flowers is in critical condition, while Satchell is in stable condition.

Officer Varence pleaded not guilty to causing grievous harm to Flowers and causing harm to Satchell at an arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

Varence’s lawyer Keith Bell applied for emergency bail in the Supreme Court.

Varence returns to court in December.
