NASSAU – An expatriate worker accused of rape has been granted $25,000 cash bail.
Prosecutors allege that William McCann, 28, of Ontario, Canada, sexually assaulted a 21-year-old American tourist at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort on May 26.
McCann is working at the resort as a contracted construction worker.
Prosecutors had no objection to McCann’s release from custody at a bail hearing before Justice Camille Darville-Gomez.
He was represented by Bjorn Ferguson.
McCann is expected to appear before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on August 4 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.
