Trial date set for suspect in Potter’s Cay Dock rape

NASSAU-A judge set a trial date for a man accused of raping a woman at Potter’s Cay Dock. After the rape, prosecutors say Elcharrico Sherman tossed the naked woman overboard in an attempt to kill her.

Justice Gregory Hilton set a trial date of October 31, 2022 during a brief hearing on June 25.

Sherman appeared before Justice Gregory Hilton via video-link from the prison. The prosecutor T’shura Ambrose and his court-appointed lawyer Damien White were in court.

Prosecutors allege that Sherman accused the woman of stealing drugs before he raped her at the dock on November 11, 2019.

Then, he allegedly threw the naked woman overboard. The woman clung to a boat and remained in the water for five hours before she was rescued.

Police arrested Sherman a short time later.
