Nassau, BAHAMAS- A man who jumped bail during his armed robbery trial has been convicted in his absence.
Javon Johnson will be sentenced for his crime after he’s arrested.
Johnson and another man robbed Kelson Solomon of a Wendy’s spicy chicken combo, a Honda Civic and an Alcatel phone on December 19, 2019.
Solomon had bought the meal minutes before the armed robbery. He’d stopped to go to Dicky MO’s beach because he needed to pee. While there, two men robbed him at gunpoint.
Police arrested the suspects a short time later at Baha Mar Boulevard and JFK Drive. They recovered the cellphone and car, but the Wendy’s combo was missing.
Police also recovered a loaded 9mm pistol.
Johnson was convicted of armed robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition.
He was represented by Troy Kellman. Bradford McKenzie and Carmen Brown prosecuted.
