NASSAU- A murder suspect will remain in custody pending trial after the Court of Appeal supported a judge’s decision to refuse him bail.
Justice Bernard Turner on September 7 denied Marcello McKenzie’s bail application.
On July 3, prosecutors charged McKenzie, of Shrimp Road, and Jamaal Armbrister with the June 28 murder of Godfrey “Rob” Sawyer.
According to police, Sawyer was on the porch of his Nassau Village home round 11pm when he got into an argument with two men. During the dispute, one of the men pulled a gun and shot Sawyer multiple times before they fled in a white minibus.
Police arrested the suspects, both 35, when they stopped the getaway vehicle after a brief chase in nearby Pinewood Gardens.
