American construction workers arrested with over $30k at airport

The Court confiscated nearly $80,000 from two American tourists

NASSAU-Four American contract workers who police say lied about the amount of money they were travelling with have been freed on bail pending trial.

Police say Kenneth Moore, 64, Aaron Novack, Stephen Sprauer, 33, and Russel Alsdorf, 48, who were here on a construction job, failed to declare that they were traveling with more than $10,000 and lied about having $US36,250 on July 25.

The Floridians denied charges of failing to declare and making a false statement at their arraignment before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.

As a result, Magistrate Forbes set a December 1 trial date and freed them each on $5,000 bail.

According to defence lawyers, Bjorn Ferguson and Mark Rolle, the men are frequent travellers to The Bahamas.
