Accused drug dealer forfeits $10k in money case

NASSAU- A court seized $10,290 from a man charged in a 215 pound marijuana bust.

Eddie Hugh Miller, 37, was arrested after he failed to declare the cash to a Bahamas Customs officer on June 9.

Miller changed his plea to guilty yesterday—and the court formally seized the money. Additionally, Miller had to pay a $500 fine to avoid spending three months in prison.

While on bail for the money case, prosecutors allege that Miller and Jameson Jacques ran afoul of drug laws.

Both men pleaded not guilty to charges drug possession with intent to supply and conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

The charges concern the discovery of 215 pounds of marijuana at an apartment in Stapledon Gardens on September 22.

Miller was granted $80,000 bail; however, Jacques’ bail hearing will take place today.

Neither Miller nor Jacques were at the apartment when police executed a search warrant.

Hiram Rolle, who was present at the time of search, pleaded guilty on September 27. He was sentenced to three years in prison. Rolle will serve an additional year in prison if he doesn’t pay a fine of $100,000.
