Nassau, BAHAMAS- A man is facing up to 60 years in prison after he was convicted of a brutal murder that took place in 2019.
Dwayne Lodimus, 28, was found guilty of the May 19 murder of Elroy Burrows.
Justice Renae McKay will hold a sentencing hearing on October 24.
At around 11am, Burrows was at a bar on Mackey Street when a lone gunman approached and shot him in the head and torso.
A policeman who was in the area said that he saw a man running towards him with a gun after he heard eight to nine shots.
The man, who was later identified as Lodimus, got into the passenger seat of a silver two-door car that didn’t have any license plates.
Lodimus was arrested on April 8 in the parking lot of Wendy’s at the Golden Gates Shopping Centre.
He was in a car that fit the description of the vehicle that Burrows’ killer fled in.
Police recovered a 9mm pistol from the car. Ballistics linked the gun to the crime scene.
Lodimus was tried along with his brother, Anton Lodimus.
However, the trial judge directed his brother’s acquittal at the close of the prosecution’s case.
Uel Johnson and Perry McHardy were the prosecutors.
