North Bimini- Royal Bahamas Defence Force marines took six people into custody for suspected human smuggling after answering a distress call on Sunday, January 16.
The crew responded to a mayday call from a disabled vessel that had started taking on water off North Bimini.
Two Bahamians, two Ecuadorians and two Colombians were rescued. They were turned over to police and immigration in Bimini for further investigations.
