Jamaican woman denies fatal stabbing

NASSAU- A Jamaican woman who tried to clear her name on Facebook after a fatal stabbing has denied a murder charge.

Nadisha Marshalle Beckford, 33, of Marshall Road, pleaded not guilty to the February 20 murder of her former girlfriend Lakeisha Mackey at her arraignment in the Supreme Court.

Beckford is being held without bail at The Bahamas Department of Corrections.

She will appear before Justice Renae McKay on December 16 for a trial date.

According to police, an argument between two women in in the parking lot of the Mayfair Hotel on West Bay Street resulted in the fatal stabbing.

Mackey died from stab wounds to the back at hospital.

In her Facebook video, Beckford claimed that she was defending herself.

She said, “You is not my mother. Don’t put your hand on me. I sorry yuh dead because I didn’t meant to do it. I was defending myself, okay. So if yuh dead, I’m sorry, and may your soul rest in peace.”

Additionally, Beckford appeared surprised that Mackey had died from the stab wounds. She said, “I give yuh two stabs. So how the f*** yuh dead? I give yuh two stabs!”
