NASSAU-Four people have admitted to cheating travel restrictions with fake negative coronavirus test results.
Scott Davis, Samuel Colebrooke, Edroy Rolle and a 17-year-old guilty today pleaded guilty to possession of forged documents. Their travel plans were ruined after police arrested them at the Lynden Pindling International Airport with bogus tests results on Friday, March 26.
After spending the weekend in custody, they were all released pending sentencing.
Davis will appear before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes on April 7. Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt will sentence the other three on April 1.
The four admitted cheats were among 11 people who allegedly presented bogus covid-19 tests for inter-island travel.
Requella Smith, Kevin Taylor, Patrice Rolle, and Rodesha Munnings denied the claims when they appeared before the deputy chief magistrate. They were freed on $2,000 bail and will return to court for trial on July 28.
Janae Jolly also pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt remanded her to prison until Thursday for a bail hearing.
Ferguson-Pratt released Kenwood McKenzie and Sonnovia Smith on their own recognizance after finding that the charges against them were defective.
They return to court on April 13 for arraignment.
