Man, woman deny trafficking missing teens for sex

NASSAU-A man and woman have been arrested and charged after they allegedly forced two missing teens into prostitution.

Bahamians Jamalaya Roberts, 40, and his alleged accomplice, Shamika Rolle, 28, are accused of committing the crimes against the 16-year-olds between February 1, 2021 through March 4, 2021 in New Providence.

Roberts and Rolle are accused of conspiracy to engage in trafficking in persons and and transporting persons for the purposes of prostitution.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges at their arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

The magistrate remanded them to prison pending a bail hearing that will be held on March 25.
