BIMINI – A Bimini resident has been fined $500 for breaking COVID-19 rules for hosting a beach party on the island that attracted hundreds of people.
Police tracked down the party’s organizer Dano Duncombe after a video of event at Radio Beach in North Bimini on November 14 went viral on social media.
On the video, the emcee is heard boasting, “It’s after 12am, Bimini ain’ on no curfew. Nassau on curfew, but we in Bimini.”
Large gatherings have been banned in an attempt to curb the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus.
Duncombe and other violators could avoid having convictions recorded by paying their fines by November 30. Otherwise, the matter will go to trial.
In a press release, Superintendent Terecita Pinder said police had ticketed the organizer and most of the attendees at the function. Pinder said the officers were in the process of locating other violators.
