Police have charged a 16-year-old Bahamian boy with the cutlass murder of a 79-year-old Haitian woman in Grand Bahama.
A search party found Elisia Elioc murdered in bushes in Eight Mile Rock on June 20, a day after relatives reported her missing.
She had been chopped to death.
Because he’s a minor, Magistrate Gwendolyn Claude excluded the public from the court. However, his parents and attorney Keith Seymour were allowed inside.
The teen, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge.
The teenager faced separate charges of housebreaking and stealing.
Prosecutors say he broke into the home of Keisha Coverley, of Martin Town, Eight Mile Rock between June 19 and 20.
He allegedly stole a television, Android box, and a black LG DVD player, altogether valued at $400.
Police recovered the stolen items.
He denied that charge and returns to court for both matters on August 4.
