NASSAU-A 27-year-old student at the Bahamas Technical Vocational Institute (BTVI) was sentenced to one month in prison for threatening to shoot a campus security guard.
Christopher Hanna, 27, of Allen Drive, threatened Veronica Miller on December 21, 2020 after she didn’t let him onto the school’s grounds.
He said that he would return with his gun and shoot her.
Hanna, a construction technology major, claimed he was there to sit an exam.
However, no exams were being held, the court heard.
Hanna pleaded guilty to threats of harm at his arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Thursday.
He said that he made the threat out of frustration.
Before sentencing Hanna, the magistrate said, “Surely you didn’t think you could go on one of our premier institutions and threaten an employee and walk scot-free. That could never happen.”
