A Royal Bahamas Defence Force officer accused of rape has been granted $9,900 bail.
Prosecutors have accused 41-year-old Valdez Lopez of the rape of a 28-year-old woman.
The incident allegedly took place on July 11.
Lopez didn’t have to enter a plea to the charge when he made his initial court appearance before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.
Reckley denied Lopez bail and remanded him into custody until October 19.
However, Lopez was granted bail by a Supreme Court judge a short time later during an emergency bail hearing.
