Tourist jailed for gun in luggage

ABACO – An American tourist was jailed for one year after airport security screeners found a loaded gun in his luggage.

Ronald Moorehead, 53, can legally carry the .380 Keltec pistol with five rounds of ammunition, in his home state of Georgia.

However, he offended Bahamian laws by traveling to Marsh Harbour, Abaco with the weapon.

Moorehead pleaded guilty to a possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Ancella Evans.

Man on murder bail killed in targeted attack

NASSAU- A man on bail for murder was gunned down Tuesday night in a targeted attack.

Charles St Luc, otherwise known as D J Elmo, was at the Patio on Carmichael Road around 10pm when two gunmen emerged from a small car.

St Luc ran for his life, but the killers chased him down and shot him dead.

St Luc was on bail for the September 6, 2020 murder of Patrick Rolle. He was shot dead during a gambling game.


After the shooting, his body was wrapped in sheets and dumped in the Bacardi Road area.

Teen driver killed in Abaco crash

ABACO – A 17-year-old driver was killed Monday night after she was ejected from her car in a crash.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a traffic accident in the vicinity of a gas station on George Albury Boulevard in Dundas Town, Abaco around 9pm.

Shenna Thervil lost control of the Honda Airwave when she tried to overtake another car, police said.

Her vehicle overturned and she was thrown from the car.

She was taken to the Marsh Harbour clinic for treatment, but died a short time later.

3 cops now face murder charge in fatal shooting

NASSAU- Three suspended cops were charged with murder on Monday in the shooting death of Danrico Carey, while a fourth officer was charged with causing dangerous harm to him.

Corporals Archibald Miller Jr, Thomas Thurston and Constables Lee Dormeus and Kevin Greenslade Jr learned of the amended charges when they appeared before Magistrate Kendra Kelly to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.

All four officers were initially charged with manslaughter over the November 13, 2021 incident.

Miller, Thurston and Dormeus are now charged with murder and Greenslade is charged with causing dangerous harm.

The magistrate did not remand the officers, who are now facing a murder charge, into custody. Instead, they were allowed to remain free on the $9,500 bail that they received on the manslaughter charge.

The officers, who are all represented by K. Melvin Munroe, will be arraigned in the Supreme Court on July 1.

At the time of Carey’s death, police reported that officers fatally shot him because they feared for their lives after he pointed a gun at them.

Carey’s death was initially referred to the Coroner’s Court for an inquest, which does not determine criminal or civil liability.

However, the officers faced criminal charges after investigators reviewed footage from their body cameras.

Another inmate dies in prison

NASSAU – A prisoner collapsed and died at the medium-security dorm at the Bahamas Department of Corrections on Sunday.

The inmate, who goes by the nickname Chum, had reportedly been in prison for over a decade.

Officials said they do not suspect foul play in the death of the unpopular prisoner.

However, an autopsy has been ordered to determine how he died.

On January 26, 33-year-old convicted housebreaker Diallo Williamson, was charged the beating murder of Mikhail Miller.

Miller, 29, was found dead in his cell in the F Block in Maximum Security on November 1, 2021.

However, Williamson claimed Miller died as a result of blows inflicted by prison officers.

Butler claimed that officers put Knowles in his cell after other inmates beat him up.

In 2020, police charged inmate Tyrone Butler with murder in the November 2019 beating death of his cellmate D’yanza Knowles.

Murder suspect is shot dead

NASSAU – A man, who was on bail for murder, was killed over the weekend.

Keishon Bethel, otherwise called Shonnie”, was shot at a bar on Nassau Street Saturday. He died as a result of gunshot injuries in hospital on Sunday, June 19.

Bethel, of Black Village, was on bail awaiting trial for the January 5, 2020 shooting murder of Lynden Humes.

Prosecutors alleged that Bethel opened fire on Humes’s car as he drove along John Road on January 5, 2020.

After being shot, Humes continued driving, and he eventually crashed into a tree and died.

Man on bail killed in Eleuthera

Police in Eleuthera are investigating the island’s first murder of the year after a man in his 30s was gunned down at a marina.

The victim, who goes by the street name Meaty, was ambushed by gunmen when he went to pick up a boat from a marina in Palmetto Point.

The victim was known to police and was on bail for a pending case.

Randy Williams was killed while on bail for a home-invasion armed robbery and rape

NASSAU- A suspect in the home-invasion armed robbery at the Westridge residence of well-known businessman Andrew Wilson was shot dead today.

Two thugs gunned down 27-year-old Randy Williams in an ambush as he left the gym on the campus of the A F Adderley Junior High School after playing basketball.

He was wearing an ankle bracelet as a condition of his $25,000 bail.

Prosecutors say Randy Williams, 27, Dominic Stuart and Akandi Gibson forced their way into the home around 9pm on December 30, 2021.

They allegedly tied up the family and robbed them of jewelry and cash before Williams and Gibson took Mr Wilson and his wife to the Mall at Marathon.

While there, they allegedly forced Mr Wilson to give them money from the safe in his store, QBC Electronics.

Meanwhile, Williams allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman while at the home.

In his police interview, Williams apologized for the rape. He claimed that he was high on ecstasy when the incident happened.

In total, the robbers got away with $65,000. They also took Mr Wilson’s 2020 Honda Passport, valued at $80,000, and jewelry, worth $7,200.

Man shot to death in Pinewood Gardens

NASSAU- Police are searching for whoever shot and killed a man in Pinewood Gardens Saturday night.

Officers were called to a shooting at Pigeon Plum and Ficus Streets around 11pm.

According to initial reports, the victim and his passenger had just arrived at a residence when a gunman shot him in an ambush.

The driver of the car died at the scene. Police said his female passenger was not hurt.

The incident was the second murder of the day.

Dion Sampson, 37, of Miami Street, was shot multiple times while sitting on the front porch of a home on East Street.
