NASSAU- A one-legged man accused of a double murder says he fears for his safety.
Raphael McKinney, 28, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Monday, March 21 charged with the murders of Roage Bryan and Delton Brennan.
According to police, around 6pm on March 13, the victims were standing near a home on Thompson Lane when a gunman exited a dark car and shot them.
McKinney was not required to enter a plea to the charges. He was remanded to prison.
However, he told the magistrate that he was in fear for his life.
According to McKinney, his twin brother was murdered through Thompson Lane on March 12.
McKinney said he had already received death threats—and other detainees had beaten him up at the police station.
He said, “I only have one leg. I don’t know what could happen to me up there.”
McKinney, who uses crutches to get around, said he lost his right leg as a result of a previous shooting.
McKinney returns to court on July 26.
