Murderer released in error is caught

NASSAU-A convicted murderer who was released in error is back behind bars.

But questions about the details of Milargo Humes’ accidental release remain unanswered.

Humes was jointly charged with Anthon Meadows for the December 1, 2014 murder of Taran Greenslade.

The fatal shooting stemmed from a fight at the High Roller’s Club in Coral Harbour where Greenslade worked.

Both men were convicted of murder on March 26, 2018 and sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment.

The Court of Appeal heard their appeals together and ordered a retrial for Meadows while dismissing Humes’ appeal.

Yet, somehow a retrial for both men was set before Justice Gregory Hilton. The Court even assigned counsel for Humes.

By the time the second trial was scheduled both men were on bail.

The trial did not begin this month because Humes claimed that he was in quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19.

Prosecutor Kendal Carrol advised the judge that Humes had been picked up and taken to the prison on Wednesday, December 8.

However, he couldn’t answer why a convicted murderer was released at all. Mr. Carrol is expected to give the court an update next week.

Humes had reportedly been free for months before officials caught on.
