Murder suspect charged with attack on patient

NASSAU- A man on bail for murder is facing charges in connection with an attack on a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Prosecutors say Brian Miller Jr, 30, stabbed Elvardo Thompson in the back after he accidentally bumped into him while at 98 Degrees on Delancy Street on December 11.

Both men went to the Accident and Emergency room for treatment for injuries received in the ensuing struggle.

While at the hospital, Miller allegedly picked up a defibrillator and beat Thompson about the body, causing over $12,000 in damage to the machine.

Thompson, a jet ski operator, is expected to recover.

Miller denied charges of causing grievous harm, causing harm and causing damage at his arraignment before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on December 16.

He was remanded to prison until December 29 when the magistrate will hold a bail hearing.
