NASSAU – A mother and her boyfriend have been denied bail in the child abuse death of D’onya Bella Walker.
Darion Smith, who was babysitting, has been charged with non-capital murder and cruelty to children, while her mother, Ostonya Walker, has been charged with exposing a child to grievous harm and cruelty to children.
They did not show any emotion Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt read the charges.
The pair return to court on December 17.
An ambulance was called to D’Onya Walker’s home in Morley’s Subdivision after after 5pm on November 5.
The toddler was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
