NASSAU- The police force could be facing another lawsuit after an assistant superintendent branded several men as murderers and gang members.
During a Zoom presentation to the National Drug Council, ASP Adrian Miller displayed photos of the men whom he claimed were part of the hierarchy of various street gangs.
Miller claimed that the men were responsible for various shootings and murders.
However, most of the men whose photos were displayed have no criminal convictions. So, Miller’s claims are unproven accusations.
Gang membership is a criminal offense that can attract a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment and a $500,000 fine.
HSome of the men named by Miller have contacted lawyers about commencing a defamation lawsuit.
