NASSAU-A man threatened the life of his girlfriend’s mother after she called police to check on her daughter.
Patreco Maycock, 25, of Milton Street, pleaded guilty to making threats of death to Lavita Thurston.
According to the prosecution, Thurston woke up concerned about the well-being of her daughter on February 6.
After trying to call her daughter, Thurston went to her home around 4:30am but she wasn’t there.
As a result, she called Maycock and asked to speak to her.
But he hung up the phone.
That’s when Thurston asked police to investigate.
After the officers left his home, Maycock called Thurston and warned that if police returned to his home, he would shoot her.
Maycock told Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux that Thurston didn’t like him.
He told the court, “She never did want me for her daughter.”
Maycock said he didn’t have a problem with Thurston, although he admitted to cursing her out on several occasions.
Maycock said Thurston allegedly threatened to send her cousins for him. In response, he said, “If you play with me again, it guh be a problem.”
According to Maycock, his girlfriend has a son with him and is expecting another child.
The magistrate placed Maycock on probation for one year and ordered him to have no contact with his girlfriend’s mother.
If he breaches probation, he’ll spend one year in prison.
