Man denies shopping spree with stolen cash

NASSAU- A man has denied stealing nearly $15,000 from a woman’s bank account.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Kristen Johnson, also known as Jason Butler, of Wild Guava Street, stole $14,574.26 from Ashley Munroe’s FirstCaribbean account between August 18 and September 25.

Then, they say Johnson spent $4,350.82 of the stolen cash on two iPhone 11 Pros, two pairs of Yves Saint Laurent stilettos, and clothing.

He denied charges of stealing and money laundering at his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans and was denied bail.

Johnson, who is represented by Ian Cargill, will stay behind bars if a Supreme Court judge doesn’t grant him bail.

Johnson’s trial is set to begin on November 26.
